On Sunday, 10 May, Cheetham Cultural Festival will host its annual one-day
celebration, Spring Fling, inviting residents from across Cheetham,
Crumpsall and the wider Manchester area to come together for a day of
culture, connection and community spirit.

Cheetham Cultural Festival is an annual celebration of the rich cultural diversity of
the area. For more than 20 years, local residents and organisations have opened
their doors to share free food, music, activities and events, creating opportunities
for people of all backgrounds to connect and celebrate together.

Originally founded to bring different faith organisations together, the festival has
grown into a vibrant celebration of the area’s wider cultural diversity, with
representatives from across the community now forming its steering group.

This year’s Spring Fling will take place at the Parish Church of St Thomas with St
Mark in Crumpsall. The free event is open to all ages and backgrounds, and will
feature a lively programme of creative activities, performances, and stalls from
local organisations. Visitors can also enjoy delicious food, free bike repairs and a
free raffle.

As a precursor to the festival’s larger four-day programme in October, Spring Fling
offers a valuable opportunity for residents to meet their neighbours, discover local
services, and engage with community organisations. Participating groups include
Cheetham Hill Advice Centre, Abraham Moss Library, Manchester Jewish
Museum, Wai Yin Welcome Centre, New Testament Church of God, Khizra
Mosque, Rainbow Surprise, alongside a range of other faith and community
spaces.

Julia Gorko, Deputy Chief Executive at Manchester Jewish Museum and co-chair
of Cheetham Cultural Festival, said:

“We’re delighted to invite our neighbours in Cheetham and Crumpsall, and people from across Manchester, to join us for Spring Fling. We have a fantastic programme of activities for all ages andare really looking forward to coming together once again to celebrate the
diversity that makes our community so special. At a time when the world can
feel increasingly divided, it is more important than ever for us to come
together and make connections. We’re also very grateful to our supporters,
including Manchester City Council and Manchester Fort, for making this
celebration possible.”
