YOUNG people with sensory issues can still enjoy all the fun of the fair, thanks to a special session being held at Oldham Summer Beach.

The fun event is currently running at Alexandra Park until 1 September, with a huge range of activities including a manmade beach, rides and inflatables, a monster assault course, beach games, food stall and entertainment.

And to ensure youngsters who may be sensitive to noise, crowds and flashing lights don’t miss out, organisers have arranged a special session so they can enjoy everything the beach has to offer in a peaceful environment.

The Autism and SEN session will take place on Wednesday 21 August from 10.30am until noon and have taken into account the specific needs young people who fall into these categories might need.

Organisers are offering a range of slower paced rides without flashing lights, music played at a lower level and keeping the crowds smaller and at a more manageable level.

Kris Longshaw who organises the beach hopes that the special session will be popular.

“We recognise the fact that loud music, big crowds and bright lights can be overwhelming for some children,” he said.

“But we don’t want them to miss out so we’ve arranged this special session so they can attend and still enjoy everything the beach has to offer, but just in an environment that is more atune to their needs.”

The cost to attend is £5 per child, which includes access to all of the inflatables and all the rides which can be paid for on the day. There is no charge for parents, carers or guardians accompanying the child or children.

Outside of this session, the beach will continue to run each day, with entrance at £1 and doesn’t include use of the rides or inflatables.

There is also the option to buy an ultimate bounce wristband at £11.99 which gives access between noon and 5pm to the inflatables at no additional cost, as well as free entrance.
