Three juveniles, alongside an 18-year-old and two men in their 20s remain in custody for questioning after a shooting in Oldham

Two men, a 19-year-old and another in his 40s have been released on bail pending further investigation.

The victim an 18-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in a stable condition after the shooting on Shaw Road on Thursday lunchtime

The victim was leaving a taxi when he was  shot by an unknown suspect who was on an electric bike.

Detective Chief Inspector Charlotte Whalley from our Major Incident Team said: “We have been working tirelessly around the clock to identify those responsible, and I would like to reassure the community that this is believed to be a targeted attack with no wider risk to the public.

“We are determined to deliver justice for the victim who sustained very serious injuries and is lucky to be alive.

“Firearms have no place on the streets of Oldham and Greater Manchester as a whole, and we take incidents like this incredibly seriously.”
