Martyn’s Law has passed its final hurdle in the House of Commons taking it one step closer to the Statute book
The law now awaits Royal Assent, which should take place in the next couple of weeks.
The law named after Manchester Arena victim Martyn Hett will mean that staff at all UK venues with a capacity of more than 200 people would undergo evacuation training, and sites with more than 800 people would need extra measures such as CCTV or security staff.
Martyn’s mother Figen Murray has campaigned for the bill and wrote on X
“It was great to sit in the House of Commons today and listen to this momentous stage. It was truly awesome to sit and listen & now I eagerly anticipate the very final stage before this becomes an Act of Parliament. 6.5 years of campaigning, but worth every single day”
