After the success of last year’s festival, Festejar returns on to Albert Square in Manchester City Centre on Thursday 3rd September for a weekend of fun, food and fiesta. The festival once again offers something for all the family, with live music, dance and food direct from the Iberian Peninsula.
Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy demonstrations and workshops from the Instituto Cervantes including language, dance and culture, as well as a wide range of stalls offering the best of Spanish cuisine.
The Spanish have music in their hearts and Festejar promises to bring the Latin spirit to Albert Square. On Thursday, Tocha and his band get the party started with their fresh and vibrant approach. They will be followed by Break Latino, Manchester’s own Spanish crossover act who combine classical guitar and vocals to give a unique twist to Spanish and English classics alike.
The Latin beat continues on Friday with Andalus paying tribute to the music of the world famous Gypsy Kings as well as other great Latin hits from around the world. They are joined by Calaita Flamenco Son, a five-piece flamenco group who will inject some fire into the evening. DJ Alonso, hugely popular in his home country, carries the celebration on into the night.
Fresh from his performance with Break Latino, Leon Meya returns on Saturday to keep the festival atmosphere alive. Once again DJ Alonso will also be on hand to ensure visitors are entertained throughout Saturday evening.
