Salford Rum has unveiled an exclusive limited-edition ‘Navy Rum’ in collaboration with Salford Royal Naval Association (RNA) and in honour of its 75th anniversary.

The creation, produced in collaboration with the Salford RNA and blended and bottled at Salford Rum’s home, the Dirty Old Town Distillery nestled under the arches on 33 Viaduct Street, launches off the back of Salford Ceremonial Mayor Tanya Burch naming the Salford Royal Navy Association her charity of the year.

Salford Navy Edition Rum will be encased in a navy-blue ceramic bottle, featuring a gold print of Salford doodled by Dave Draws and the Salford Branch of the RNA logo. At 57.5% it combines expertly selected aged rums from Guyana, Trinidad and Jamaica which are blended and bottled at Dirty Old Town Distillery to deliver smoky flavours of tobacco and caramel with notes of Caribbean fruits.  These specially selected rums are blended and bottled at the Dirty Old Town Distillery at overproof, Navy Strength.

Rum has a long-standing affinity with the navy, enjoyed as its official drink from as far back as 1655 when soldiers enjoyed their ‘daily rum ration’.

The collaboration between Salford Royal Naval Association and Salford Rum is expected to raise over £3,000. Salford Rum will launch just 1700 bottles and will donate £2 from every bottle sold to the Association. The Ceremonial Mayor Tanya Burch is very grateful for Salford Rum’s generosity of the spirit in support of her chosen charity.

Tommy Gaughan, co-founder of Salford Rum said: “Our long-standing credentials in rum make a navy strength spirit a natural next step for us – but to launch for such a worthy cause and a community of people who share our deep love for Salford was an opportunity we could not turn down.

“The launch is a chance to support Salford Royal Naval Association while enjoying Salford Rum in a totally new way. It’s been some time in the making at Dirty Old Town Distillery and we’ve landed at a place whereby we’re very proud of the rum. We can confidently say our loyalists and those new to the brand will enjoy it very much.”

Salford Ceremonial Mayor Tanya Burch said: “The Royal Naval Association provides a life-long community to those with links to the navy, an ethos that I and Salford Rum share. It’s an incredibly worthwhile cause, and it’s great to see businesses in the city of Salford supporting it.”

The one-off, limited-edition expression will go on sale on the Salford Rum website at 8pm on Sunday 30th March 2025, priced at £50 for 70cl.
