Royal Air Maroc’s direct non-stop service from Manchester Airport to Casablanca has now officially launched, with the inaugural flight taking place on Tuesday 4 April.

The new service was formally launched with an event at Manchester’s Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel on Peter Street. Representatives from the airport and Royal Air Maroc welcomed members of the travel and trade industry to the event, who enjoyed a Moroccan-themed buffet ahead of the flight at 17:00.

The service was then officially launched with a traditional cake-cutting.

Passengers travelling on the inaugural flight were handed out free gifts and souvenirs by RAM staff as they boarded the Boeing 737-800 aircraft to celebrate the memorable occasion.

The exciting launch sees Manchester Airport become only the third UK airport to operate flights with Royal Air Maroc, and the first outside of London.

The airline is running direct flights to Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport three times a week from Manchester, operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Royal Air Maroc serves over 90 destinations in four continents, bringing Africa closer to the rest of the world. The airline’s UK & Ireland General Manager, Achraf El Hassani, said:

“Royal Air Maroc is delighted to have launched the only non-stop service from the North of England direct to Casablanca. The demand for these initials flights has been extremely encouraging, and we are thrilled to be providing yet another invaluable link from the UK to Africa.”
