Musician Rowetta visits her floral installation ‘Queen Bee Rowetta’ on the final day of this year’s Manchester Flower Festival. Created by florist Adi Thomas of Royal Exchange Flowers, Rowetta’s hair and outfit are inspired by the iconic Manchester Bee alongside colours inspired by the 1990s and the Happy Mondays.

‘Queen Bee Rowetta’, located at The Royal Exchange Manchester, is one of ten floral installations in place across the city centre celebrating Mancunian icons.

Rowetta said: “I was in tears when I saw it. It’s great to see a black girl from Manchester being recognised like this. The dress is really similar to the dress I wore at Glastonbury when I opened the Pyramid Stage with Hacienda Classical. I wore that as a tribute to the 22 victims of the Manchester Arena attack in May 2017 so the whole idea of this is just really beautiful, especially given the timing.”
