Rochdale have issued a statement condemning the scenes that followed their defeat in the FA Trophy semi final on Saturday which saw fans running onto the pitch and confronting opposition fans
The club said
Rochdale Football Club condemns the actions of those who invaded the pitch following Saturday’s tie against Spennymoor Town at the Crown Oil Arena.
We are fully supporting Greater Manchester Police (GMP) with their investigations into the unacceptable behaviour by a small percentage of people in attendance.
GMP is working to identify the individuals involved who will be subject to the appropriate sanctions, including banning orders, if found guilty.
The Club, along with the vast majority of its supporters, will not accept such behaviour at its matches and adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards those matters.
Actions such as those displayed, from a small minority of people, harms our reputation as a family-friendly, welcoming Club.
We will make no further comment on Saturday’s incidents until such time as GMP have completed their investigations.
