A leading Rochdale manufacturing company has been praised after donating vital protective equipment to support local health and care workers.

Makin Metal Powders provided 130 medically approved FFP2/N95 face masks to help stem the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and provide important protection for frontline care staff and vulnerable residents. In addition, they donated £10,000 to the NHS to purchase a ventilator, a much-needed and life-saving piece of equipment.

The company, based at Buckley Road, is one of the largest producers of copper and copper alloy powders in Europe and a pioneer in the field.

Managing director, Jonathan Hood, and group directors, Limin Wang and Huijin He, said the business wanted to play their part to help protect key workers and the people they are caring for.

Jonathan said: “We are proud to have done our bit to support the amazing staff who are doing so much to care and support people at this difficult time. Everyone at our company would like to pass on our thanks and best wishes to everyone across the community who is doing such incredibly invaluable work on behalf of us all. This is the least we could do to help protect people who are on the frontline saving people’s lives.”
