Reform UK has reported the Labour Party to Greater Manchester Police, alleging a breach of the Representation of the People Act 1983

The report centres on an X post by the Labour Party sharing a clip of Matt Goodwin, Reform UK’s candidate in the Gorton and Denton by-election, in which he appeared to speak negatively about Manchester

The clip was presented out of context say Refirm seemingly in an effort to depict Matt as someone who dislikes Manchester

It’s an offence under S106(1) of the Representation of the People Act 1983 before or during an election to make or publish any false statement of fact in relation to a candidate’s conduct for the purpose of affecting his return.
