Reform UK swept to a big victory in a Tameside council by-election with 47 percent of the vote and a healthy 22-point lead over Labour which had previously held the seat
The by election was triggered following Labour councillor in Longdendale Jacqueline North resigned in protest at the “Trigger Me Timbers” WhatsApp group which saw several councillors lose the Labour Whip along with Gorton and Denton MP Andrew Gwynne
Reform Candidate Allan Hopwood wS elected in the Longdendale ward with a majority of 422 votes.
