Nick Buckley MBE, the founder, and leader of Mancunian Way, the award-winning charity working with Manchester’s homeless and rough sleepers, has been selected as the Reform Party’s candidate in this year’s Manchester Mayoral elections.
Nick said, “I have spent 2 decades improving Greater Manchester. I have helped kids to avoid a life of crime. I have supported rough sleepers into accommodation and employment. I helped where I could. But many of our societal problems are a direct consequence of our system of governance. We need change.
“Greater Manchester still has fellow citizens living in cardboard boxes on the streets. We all should be ashamed. Our police service is failing and is in special measures. Violent crime goes unrecorded. The city region is in a worse position than we were at the last Mayoral election”.
Richard Tice, leader of Reform UK added, “I am delighted that Nick Buckley is standing to be Mayor of Greater Manchester for Reform UK. He has unique experience that can help everyone in Manchester. On crime, drugs, working with homeless people, Nick has first-hand knowledge and practical solutions. He set up a charity to help the homeless.
He was canceled by the woke folk last year but battled back and won over them. Brave, principled, he is a no-nonsense, common sense guy that will tell it as it is, and get things done.
Manchester has been badly let down by Andy Burnham, who has presided over a shambles in the vital area of law and order; his Chief Constable was fired and the police force that he oversees was put into special measures. It is time for change.“
Mr Buckley continued, “Ten months ago my life changed forever. I realised through personal experience that something had changed in the UK, but not for the better. We had become a nastier place, full of intolerance and fear.
“I beat the online bullies and pushed aside the weak individuals who sacked me. I got my job back. I got my life back. But something deep down inside told me it was not over.
“We have watched as statues were pulled down and our history rewritten. The meaning of words changed. Freedom of speech curtailed. People losing their jobs for thinking the ‘wrong thing’.
“We all need to stand-up and say ‘No More’. We need to draw a line in the sand.
“Greater Manchester needs better, we demand better.
“Let’s put the ‘Great’ back into Greater Manchester”.
