The Post Office chairman Henry Staunton has been ousted amid a row with the government.
Secretary of State for Business Kemi Badenoch says Staunton left his role as chairman by mutual consent but the Government was later forced to confirm that he was effectively sacked following the phone call with Badenoch
It follows ongoing tensions in the wake of the Horizon IT scandal
“The Post Office is rightfully under a heightened level of scrutiny at this time.With that in mind, I felt there was a need for new leadership, and we have parted ways with mutual consent.” said the Business Secretary
Staunton was only appointed to the role in December 2022
