Holiday makers returning from Portugal after 4.00am on Saturday face having to quarantine for 14 days with the country having only been added to the “green” list a few weeks ago

The islands of Madeira and the Azores will be exempt from the restrictions however.

Hungary, French Polynesia, and Reunion, are the other destinations that have lost their “travel corridors”. 
Sweden which never invoked a lockdown has now been deemed safe to travel to after its seven-day case rate has tumbled, to 11.6 per 100,000 people.

The announcement was made this afternoon by the Transport Secretary Grant Schapps
