Police have released CCTV images of five individuals they want to speak to following a disturbance in the City centre on Monday evening
Around 200 youths causing a disturbance in and around the city after the group had been attending a party at a bar on Deansgate Locks, when it was shut down due to the threat posed by youths from within the bar and outside.
The youths made their way towards the city centre with sporadic fights and anti-social behaviour taking place.
A Section 35 order was implemented by GMP, which prevents individuals from returning to the city centre for a period of up to 48 hours. If not adhered to, individuals can be arrested for breaching the order.
Four people, aged between 14 – 18 years old have been arrested so far on suspicion of affray. They have been bailed pending further investigation. Four police officers were also assaulted.
Officers have now reached a position in their investigation to release new CCTV images of individuals that they wish to speak to.
Inspector Glen Rees of GMP’s City Centre neighbourhood team, said: “We understand that the recent incidents in Manchester City Centre will undoubtedly cause some concern with local residents and those visiting Manchester; I want to be absolutely clear that incidents of this nature will not be tolerated in the City Centre. We will continue to put measures in place to tackle these issues and you will be seeing an increase in the number of officers on patrol around the local area to help provide reassurance. Those officers are more than happy to provide a listening ear to any concerns or information you may have about any crimes or issues in your area.
“Following our initial enquiries we are now in a position to release CCTV images of individuals that we would like to speak to as part of our comprehensive investigation that is now taking place as they may be able to help with our enquiries.
