Plans have been revealed to build 127 new homes on the site of a former Vauxhall dealership in Eccles, Salford.
The long-vacant brownfield site on Albert Street and Peel Street was recently acquired by transformative development and property manager, CERT, known best for their Manchester City Centre and Trafford-based residential projects
CERT’s proposal to transform the site into a vibrant and well-designed community is made up of a six-storey apartment block, including 114 apartments and thirteen townhouses with private gardens, across a mix of 1-, 2-, and 3 bedroom homes. The consultation will remain open until 25 May, after which CERT will finalise its proposals ahead of submitting a planning application to Salford City Council.
This site has previously been granted permission for a 25-storey residential building, comprising 256 dwellings in January 2024, with the developer stating that these proposals represent a more modest and locally sympathetic alternative.
CERT sees the proposals as a significant contribution to The Eccles Vision – Salford City Council’s plan to revitalise the town centre. As part of its consultation process, the developer is now seeking local views to help shape the plans before submitting a formal application to the council.
Stephen Oster, Head of Acquisitions and Development at CERT, comments: “Our public consultation for One Albert Street aims to support the reinvigoration of the town, taking local opinion onboard to shape the next stage of our plans to support a vibrant neighbourhood for the people of Eccles.”
“We welcome the local community’s input so that we can shape our proposals before we submit a planning application in the near future.”
The public consultation for One Albert Street will begin on 14 May, until 25 May. To learn more about the plans for the site, please visit www.albertstreetconsultation.co.uk, where an online feedback form is also available.
