Plans have been revealed for 147 homes in Old Trafford.

Homes for Trafford, a joint venture between Trafford Council and L&Q, has submitted a new planning application to build the homes – 50 per cent of which are affordable – on land off Bold Street.

The site, part of the former Tamworth Estate, was previously home to three high-rise tower blocks and the Seahawk Pub which is demolished.

Subject to planning consent from Trafford Council, the partners intend to build 147 energy-efficient homes including one-bedroom apartments and two, three, and four-bedroom houses. The proposed scheme will feature a range of styles, sizes and tenures including 73 affordable homes – 16 for social rent and 57 intermediate homes.

A previous planning application for the site has been withdrawn and the revised proposals include additional external amenities for residents and visitors, and pedestrianised connected green spaces to connect future neighbours.

Since the last public consultation in 2022, significant changes have been made to the proposals, including the removal of two apartment blocks and their replacement with more family sized housing. The vision for the proposed scheme continues to place a landscape-led design at its centre, maximising high quality public realm, and celebrating views of the surrounding area. This will help create a place promoting health and wellbeing, as well as access to nature and sustainable modes of travel.
