Manchester-based sustainability expert, Pilot Group, has appointed a new Managing Director to lead its energy management business, as it progresses towards its ambition of saving businesses across the UK more than £1 million in energy costs by June next year.

Lee Morgan, who took up the senior role this month, brings with him more than a decade of industry experience including most recently spending seven years leading mechanical and electric engineering services company, Thermatic Group.

Lee will be tasked with guiding Pilot Group towards saving a milestone £1.2 million in energy costs for UK businesses and a reduction in carbon footprint of 2,200 organisations through the provision of its Energy Management System (EMS).

Determined to hit the ground running, Lee’s ambitions will see him lead the expansion of the EMS’ presence in markets such as the manufacturing and retail sectors, grow the EMS’ service providing, and bolster the energy management division’s team with technical hardware and software professionals to meet demand.

Coinciding with its thirty-year anniversary this year, Manchester-based Pilot Group is on track to support organisations to collectively reduce their gas consumption by 12million kWh during its financial year ending in June, helping them to tackle unprecedented energy costs as well as achieving significant carbon reductions.

Pilot Group has seen an exciting period of significant growth, which has seen a record 2022 with the company’s EMS division on target to double its revenue year on year by June 2023.

Joining Lee to bolster Pilot Group’s EMS team further is Product Manager Jordan Cooper as well as Joe Williams who will provide Sales & Operations Support.

Hannah Abbas is also joining the team to take up the position of Customer Service & Operations Manager. In addition, the business is seeking to hire for a number of tech-focussed roles in the near future.

Pilot Group’s energy management system is designed to control and monitor energy systems for businesses, with its smart sensors and self-learning algorithm enabling heating systems to work more efficiently to reduce waste, saving organisations an average of 40% on their energy bills each year.

Lee Morgan, EMS Managing Director at Pilot Group, commented: “I am extremely excited to join Pilot Group, which is at the forefront of carbon reduction and energy efficiency efforts.

“Key to the company’s success is the fantastic team whose expertise in this field are second to none. Without their tireless work and ambition to support businesses across the UK to reduce their energy costs, the company would not be in the strong position it is today.

“We have an energy management system that we can be really proud of, and along with Jordan, Joe, Hannah, the existing team, and others to come, I’m looking forward to leading the business to further growth and success throughout this year and beyond.”

Archie MacPherson, Managing Director at Pilot Group, added: “We’re thrilled to welcome Lee and his colleagues to the team.

“Our EMS division is an increasingly key area of focus for the company and meeting our target of saving businesses £1.2million this financial year will represent a huge milestone in the growth of the business.

“We look forward to supporting many more businesses of all sizes across the UK as we continue to invest in our EMS division and have no doubt that Lee and the team are the best people to help us achieve this.”

With a turnover of £45million and 140 employees, Pilot Group’s offer is focused on achieving carbon reduction and energy efficiency through the provision of energy management systems, electric vehicle charging points and traffic control systems.
