Oldham Archives has been awarded a grant by The National Archives as part of its Archives Revealed funding to help make the Oldham Chronicle Archive more accessible to the public.

The paper was the source of news for the town for 163 years. In its pages are thousands of stories capturing life in Oldham.

Oldham Archives stepped in to save the Chron archive when the paper closed in August 2017.

They had to put the collection into storage, but when they open in their new location at Spindles in the autumn, the Chron archive will come home to Oldham and they will use the Archives Revealed grant to take the first step in understanding what is in this extraordinary archive.
