After one of the busiest years on record, the North West Air Ambulance Charity (NWAA) is inviting daring individuals to step into the heat and tackle its first ever Firewalk Challenge to support its lifesaving missions.
The fiery fundraiser will take place on 7th February 2024 at Barton Aerodrome, near the charity’s Barton airbase in Greater Manchester. Participants will walk barefoot across coals and embers burning at an intense 538°C – all in the name of charity.
Under the guidance of expert instructors, attendees will learn the mindset and techniques needed to safely conquer the challenge, turning fear into empowerment in a night to remember.
The inaugural event is limited to just 100 participants, and with spaces expected to book up quickly, NWAA encourages those interested to sign up early to avoid disappointment.
2024 saw NWAA respond to an unprecedented number of emergencies across the region, with over 1200 missions in Greater Manchester alone. The demand for the charity’s vital service has never been greater, and support from the community is essential to ensure they can continue saving lives.
Charlotte Carnell, NWAA’s Events Manager, said: “Our first-ever Firewalk Challenge is a thrilling opportunity for anyone looking to test their courage and resilience. It’s not just about walking across hot coals – it’s a powerful experience of self-discovery. Every step taken and every pound raised will directly support our lifesaving work.
“As a charity, we rely entirely on public donations to raise the £18 million needed each year to keep our helicopters in the sky. This event is a fantastic way to make a real difference while embracing a unique and unforgettable challenge.”
The Firewalk Challenge will take place 4 pm – 10 pm, the event is family friendly and open to anyone over the age of 8-years-old. It is set to be a huge celebration and all funds raised will help the charity to continue saving lives across the North West.
