On Thursday 20 October Manchester Jewish Museum will welcome international performer Noga Ritter for her inaugural performance as part of their Synagogue Nights autumn 2022 season. Synagogue Nights is a series of live, intimate theatre, art and music events in Manchester Jewish Museum’s beautiful Grade II* listed Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue.

Noga and her trio will bring their genre-blending music to Manchester for the first time, fusing Hebrew Jazz with global grooves for an electric and soulful musical experience. Noga’s music brings Hebrew back to its original nomadic context, mixing influences from her Jazz, her upbringing in Israel and her work in West-Africa and London. In her songs, sung in both Hebrew and English, she tells intimate and personal stories which develop into wider narratives of important social issues. Her shows are electric and unique, getting any audience to sing along and dance.

After studying at the Guildhall School of Music and LCCM, Noga has performed and collaborated with musicians from around the world, singing in various languages and genres. She released an album and toured internationally with her former band VOCAL GLOBAL, and has also worked with Mike King Collective, The Grand Union Orchestra, Abdoulaye Samb and Minnjiaraby (Senegal), Jyotsna Srikanth (India), Sahad & The Natal Patchwork (Senegal), Sura Susso (Gambia), Alibeta (Senegal) and Randolph Matthews.
Noga enjoys travelling the world with her music, learning from other cultures and creating exciting musical collaborations. For her performance at Manchester Jewish Museum she will be joined by Tomer Eldor on Piano (Israel) and Giuliano Osella (Italy) on percussion.

A few weeks ago, Noga met with Manchester Jewish Museum’s song-writing and poetry group to prepare a unique piece to be performed at the concert. She spent two hours with the group, singing, improvising and writing, which resulted in a fantastic new song called ‘A Safe Place’, which will be performed by the group and Noga during the evening event on Thursday. Adam, a regular member of the group reflects on this experience:

Working with Noga was a delightful experience! She took the time to teach us the basics of singing, like how to breathe and produce a round, steady sound; and then guided us through her song writing process, with care and generosity.

Noga Ritter Trio will perform on Thursday 20 October at Manchester Jewish Museum in the Grade II* Listed former Synagogue. You can book tickets via the website below or by calling 0161 834 9879: https://www.manchesterjewishmuseum.com/event/noga-ritter-trio/
