While Tik Toc screens have gone blank in the United States have gone blank this morning, The U.K. Government has confirmed that it has no plans to implement a ban in this country

Speaking on the BBC this morning Darren Jones said “We have no plans right now to ban TikTok… we will keep it under review… but consumers wanting to post videos about their cats or dancing… doesn’t seem like a national security threat to me.”

The Biden administration banned the social media platform over concerns about its links to the Chinese government and had been given a deadline of 19 January to be sold to an approved US buyer.

President Joe Biden had said he would leave the issue to his successor, Donald Trump. Trump has said he will “most likely” give TikTok a 90-day reprieve from a ban once he takes office on Monday.
