brand-new music showcase in Manchester, ‘New in the Neighbourhood’ has announced its first instalment taking place in June 2025. Presenting three amazing up-and-coming artists across one night in the heart of the city, the showcase is a staple event for those looking to hear the best rising talent in the industry.
On June 29th, ‘New in the Neighbourhood’ will provide a curated lineup of female R&B, pop and indie talent. Taking to the stage of Manchester’s Deaf Institute are up-and-comers Akemi Fox, Isabel Abbott and Sinead Ashiokai.

Akemi Fox is one of the north’s most soothing alternative R&B artists. Standing out for all the right reasons, her distinctive voice, seductive lyrical ability and 90s/00s nostalgic sound have cemented her a position in the UK music scene as one of its most fearless and gifted songstresses. Since the release of ‘Lemon Tea’, Akemi has found herself on the path to success. She is now continuously supported by Amazon, Spotify & Apple Music and has her releases placed on several playlists. Akemi exudes a potent combination of confidence and innovation which is manifest in her exceptional songwriting.
Isabel Abbott is a 23-year-old singer-songwriter-producer who blends modern R&B with elements of Pop, Soul and Jazz. Born in Spain, she started gigging at the age of 16 at jazz bars in her hometown Valencia. Infatuated with music, she developed a unique vocal richness and depth. As soon as Isabel turned 18, she came to the UK to study at BIMM Birmingham followed by BIMM Manchester. In 2024, she achieved global recognition for online performances. Isabel says, “It’s taken me a long time to get where I want to be, singing and writing for years. Now it’s time to help others with my lyrics, to inspire young women to believe that they don’t need to change to please anyone”.
19-year-old songstress Sinead Ashiokai has taken the music industry by storm. Recently blowing up on TikTok and signing to the famous Island Records, Sinead who’s currently working on her debut album is set to take over the soul pop genre. With recent collaborations with Maverick Sabre and Rag and Bone man to name a few – Sinead is truly the UK’s most exciting new soul singer.
