CHEC (Community Health and Eyecare) has officially been welcomed to its new treatment centre at 2 Stockport Exchange.
The striking 61,500 sq ft six-storey building sits next to the highly successful 1 Stockport Exchange. Once complete, the wider Stockport Exchange development will have delivered up to 375,000 sq ft of office space and 28,000 sq ft of commercial retail and leisure floor space.
The stunning six-storey building is already home to BASF, law firm ONP, and multi-let industrial property company Industrials REIT.
CHEC is one of the largest providers of community-based ophthalmology services in the UK, providing treatments for conditions such as Glaucoma and Cataracts. In 2022, CHEC also commenced diagnostic endoscopy services and this new state of the art treatment centre will provide both Ophthalmology and Endoscopy services.
The £145m, eight-phase, Stockport Exchange development is being delivered by Stockport Council and nationwide placemaker Muse.
Stockport Exchange forms part of Stockport’s wider £500m Town Centre West regeneration masterplan, being delivered by Stockport Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC), alongside it’s public and private partners.
The wider 130-acre Town Centre West area will bring more than 4,000 new homes, alongside major transport and infrastructure improvements, Grade A office space and new leisure spaces and amenities to the town centre.
Cllr Colin MacAlister, Cabinet Member for Economy, Regeneration and Housing along with representatives from Muse and Stockport Council Officers, were given a tour of the impressive modern treatment facility, one of 17 branches nationwide, met staff members and were talked through patient journey and treatment and surgery that would be undertaken on site.
Stockport Council and Muse are on site approaching completion with the latest phase, phase 4, of regeneration at Exchange, delivering a further 64,000 sq ft of first-class office space, together with a 399-space multi-storey tenant car park.
Including, 24 EV charging points and solar panels, will increase the sustainability and help meet energy requirements of the car park.
