Michelle Mone’s husband Doug Barrowman has this morning issued a statement rejecting allegations that the couple cashed in by supplying duff PPE during the pandemic.

in the statement published on the X platform, he denied his wife profited from his firm, Medpro, and asked why other companies were not being targeted.

“Michelle and I are being hung out to dry to distract attention from government incompetence in how it handled PPE procurement at a time of national emergency,” he said.

The National Crime Agency is investigating a £3 million payment into Mone’s Coutts bank account, which would prove her direct benefit from the PPE Medpro contract as well as indirectly through trusts.

The statement added that “Medpro supplied PPE to the UK Govt at competitive prices and following a transparent process.

“Our pricing was so competitive that we saved the UK Govt at least £100 million compared to the competition at the time”

Labour has promised a Covid Corruption Commissioner to investigate them if they win the next election.
