A thirty three year old man is in custody on suspicion of murder after a man was stabbed in Salford in the early hours of this morning.
Police were called to Winster Avenue, Lower Kersal around 4.10 to reports that a man had been stabbed.
The man believed to be in his late 20s was taken to hospital, where he sadly died a short time later.
Detective Inspector Andy Butterworth from GMP’s Major Incident Team said: “Firstly I would to extend my sincere condolences to the family of this man at this tragic time. We are working to provide them with support from specially trained family liaison officers as they come to terms with what has happened.
“We have been carrying out numerous lines of enquiry since the incident happened this morning so local residents may have noticed an increased police presence in the area. This is likely to continue throughout the day and I would urge anyone with concerns or information about what happened to approach one of the officers on patrol.
“We are treating this as a live murder investigation and any information that members of the public hold could prove crucial so if you think that you can help, then please contact us.”
