Moya Cole Hospice have announced the opening of a new £26.5m state-of-the-art
The new hospice is located adjacent to the now retired site in Heald Green, Cheadle.
Two buildings make up the new hospice site, both joined together by a link corridor.
The first building which houses the main entrance for the hospice consists of the Being You Centre for outpatient services, rehabilitation facilities, a café, and offices.
The second building is home to the new Inpatient Unit, consisting of 27 patient beds across 23 rooms, providing our patients with much-needed privacy during this period of their lives.
There is a family lounge, a dining area, a number of quiet areas, and an interior courtyard for patients and their loved ones to enjoy.
Each patient bedroom has direct access to the hospice gardens, with doors wide enough to allow a bed to be wheeled out if necessary.
Rachel McMillan, Chief Executive for Moya Cole Hospice, says the new hospice facility is a dream come true.
“It is truly emotional that our new hospice in Heald Green is now fully operational. I remember the initial talks about the possibility of a new hospice site and then contracting PRP Architects to design a new building, to the securing of the site, the first spade in the ground, our contractors, Caddick Construction, laying the first bricks, and seeing the building rise before our eyes. This new site will make a world of difference to our patients, their families, and their loved ones for generations to come.
“Our now former site in Heald Green was never a purpose-built hospice facility. We made the absolute most of it, but sadly, it became tired and no longer fit for purpose towards the end of our time there. We take the memories we made there, and we bring them with us to this new, monumental facility that we as an organisation are so proud of,” Rachel said.
Caddick Construction were the contractors for the project, initially breaking ground in June 2024.

It has been a very special project, with the staff at Moya Cole becoming more than just clients to us, and it is fantastic to see the new hospice open its doors.
“We were determined to not just build the new facility, but also to show our support for the crucial and incredible work Moya Cole Hospice provides. Over the course of the project, our team raised £95,000 for the hospice through various fundraising efforts. We’re immensely proud to have been a part of this project and we know the impact it will have on the local community for many years to come.”
