Salford City suffered their second league defeat in four days at Chorley in the National League North.

After the home team missed a penalty which initially resulted in Salford’s keeper bring sent off before the referee changed his mind and produce a yellow card, the Ammies took the lead on 27 minutes through Michael Nottingham lbut two goals in the opening minutes of the second period from Jason Walker and Dale Whitham secured the points.

A change of management is doing little for Altrincham, having conceded five on Saturday they let in another four at Nuneaton.

They fell behind after eight minutes and a minute later found themselves reduced to ten men when Joyce conceded a penalty.

The penalty was saved and Alty equalised but three goals in the last ten minutes of the first half sealed the game for Nuneaton.

Stalybridge continue to slide finding themselves in the bottom three along with Altrincham after a 3-1 defeat at Harrogate after an Andy Owens’ close range header had given them a half time lead but second half goals from Tony McMillan, JP Pittman and Dominic Knowles secured the three points for the home team with quarter of an hour left.

Finally in the Integro Doodson League Cup it finished 0-0 at Hyde United as they entertained Glossop but the away side took the tie 5-4 on penalties. Hyde’s minds will no doubt turn to their FA Cup tie at Stockport on Saturday.
