Manchester United have informed staff that nearly a quarter of the club’s workforce will be made redundant with the money saved set to be used to improve performances on the pitch according to a source

United’s 1,150-strong workforce will be cut by 250 employees this summer to funnel more money into the football side of operations.

The move follows a review instigated by the Ineos founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe
