A man in his 40s remains in hospital with gunshot injuries to his legs after a shooting in Stockport last night.

Shots were fired at a house Hollyhouse Drive, Woodley in what police are describing as an isolated incident.

No arrests have been made and a scene remains in place on Hollyhouse Drive.

Detecive Inspector Darren Scar of GMP’s Stockport Borough said: “Thankfully the man is responding well to treatment. Our thoughts remain with him as he continues his recovery.

“While this incident happened after dark, it occurred in a well-populated residential street in the early evening and we therefore expect people will be able to assist our investigations.

“Did you see anything or do you have any information that can help? If so, please get in touch as soon as possible.

“We are currently treating this as an isolated incident and we don’t believe there is any wider threat to the community.

“People in the area will notice an increased police presence as we continue our investigations over the coming days.

“I’d encourage anyone with concerns to speak to our officers.”
