Saqib Mahmood has been named in Lancashire’s squad for the first time this season and could be set for a first appearance for the Red Rose since April of last year.
Mahmood spent almost a year on the sidelines after suffering stress fracture of his back, during the early stages of last season.
He made his return to action during England’s ODI series against Bangladesh in March. The 26-year-old has since been building up his fitness levels for a return to red ball cricket and last week took five wickets for the Second XI in Southport.
Mahmood replaces Rob Jones in the only change to the 13-man squad which travelled to Chelmsford last week as Lancashire played out a rain-affected draw against Essex.
