Manchester Central MP Lucy Powell has come in for some criticism over her choice of clothing during her appearance in the weekend’s Pride March in Manchester City Centre
Powell’s tee shirt,displaying the slogan “Never kissed a Tory” caused some consternation with a number of Tory MPs reacted angrily to the picture and called on Powell to “grow up”.
Sara Britcliffe, the Conservative MP for Hyndburn, said the slogan helped to create a sense of “us versus them. Quite disgusting from a shadow minister. A difference of political belief should not result in hate.”
Meanwhile Tory minister James Cleverley said
“Keep asking nicely, I’m sure one will say yes eventually.”
