The team behind the historic Salford pub, The Black Friar, is announcing the launch of its sister venue and new neighbourhood café, Leo and Roobs.

Situated in the up-and-coming Blackfriars area of Salford, and just a stone’s throw from Deansgate, Leo and Roobs is set to officially open its doors to the public on Monday, 10th June.

Named after the owner’s children, Leo and Ruby, this café is truly a family affair, aiming to create a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. Offering everything from artisanal coffee and fresh juices to delicious brunch and lunch options, the new café will be open from the early morning to afternoon, seven days a week.

Classic brunch dishes will be available, alongside summer salads, wraps and toasties. However, the star of the show is the house-baked crumpets, featured in several dishes, including the soon-to-be-famous “Leo’s Stack,” which includes a juicy sausage patty, poached egg, american cheese and tomato chutney.

Guests can enjoy a variety of specialty coffees, including matcha and Vietnamese coffee sourced from a local artisan supplier. Refreshing house-made juices and smoothies such as The Booster  with carrot, cantaloupe, black pepper, mango, ginger +turmeric and The Peach Boy, a mixture of peaches, almond milk, oats, strawberry + agave, are also available. Additionally, the café offers unique twists on classic brunch cocktails, such as the Bunny Mary made with vodka, carrot juice, hot sauce, orange + horseradish.

The new menu is crafted from the finest local ingredients, maintaining the high quality that its sister venue, The Black Friar, is known for. Everything is made from scratch by head chef Morgan Lane (previously Pot Kettle Black), with a focus on fusing fresh and healthy options with comfort.

The café features cosy indoor seating, as well as al fresco tables, perfect for any Mancunian weather. There will also be a coffee hatch that will provide a convenient takeaway service, including drinks, snacks, and more, with a pre-order and quick pick-up options for those on the go.

Head Chef Morgan Lane commented: “Leo and Roobs will be a fantastic addition to the area. The Black Friar team have loved getting to know the neighbours, so we hope to see lots of familiar faces (and some new ones!) at the café. We can’t wait to share everything we’ve been working on with you all.”

Leo and Roobs will be open Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 15:30, and Saturday to Sunday from 08:30 to 15:30. Fancy a sneak preview? Pop by the Leo and Roobs coffee hatch on Thursday 6th or Friday 7th June, where passers-by can enjoy free coffee and sample some of the delightful offerings that will soon become staples of this cosy café.

Leo and Roobs is located on 2 Garden Lane, off Blackfriars road, just a 10 minute walk from Deansgate. For more information, visit www.leoandroobs.co.uk or follow @leoandroobs on Instagram.
