On 9th June, Chi Onwurah MP will deliver a landmark public lecture in Manchester which will set out a personal vision of how science and engineering can benefit the whole of society.

As Chair of the powerful House of Commons Select Committee on Science Innovation & Technology, Onwurah is one of the most influential voices in science policy. It is her role is to hold ministers and the government to account on their plans and delivery.

Under the title ‘Engineering Science’, Onwurah will speak about how the UK can ensure science benefits us all and will take questions from an audience of academics, students, local dignitaries and the general public.

She will deliver her lecture at Manchester Metropolitan University as the highlight of the Annual Congress of the Engineering Professors’ Council, the membership body of the UK’s engineering academics.

Each year, the Congress brings together the nation’s leading engineering researchers and lecturers for three days. This year, they are being proudly hosted jointly by Manchester Metropolitan University and The University of Manchester.

The Annual Lecture is a free event, open to the public, to promote a greater understanding and appreciation of engineering and its contribution to society.
