A 38 year old man has been killed after the Land Rover Freelander he was driving collided with a white Volvo artic HGV in Tyldesley last night.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while a passenger in the same vehicle suffered minor injuries. The driver of the HGV also suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The accident happened around 10pm on Mosley Common Road

PC Paul Clarke, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We’re investigating the circumstances around this tragic collision and would ask anyone with information that may assist us to come forward.

“Our thoughts remain with the man’s family and specialist officers are supporting them.
