There will be large screens live streaming events from London over the Coronation Bank Holiday Weekend in Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester Council have announced.
Saturday 6 May
Fun seekers will be able to soak up the party ambiance and watch the BBC Live Coverage of the Coronation in Piccadilly Gardens on large screens.
There will be an array of vendors in Piccadilly Gardens selling food, coronation treats and tipples- plus, there will be face painting for little ones keen to join in the fun.
There will additionally be a large screen in Manchester Cathedral, where people can watch the Coronation Events free of charge in one of Manchester’s most historic buildings.
After the Coronation ceremony and traditional procession, the platforms in Piccadilly Gardens will remain open until 11pm. Offering up food, drinks and entertainment for all into the night.
Sunday 7 May
The Coronation fun continues into Sunday 7 May, where Piccadilly Gardens will be transformed into a picnic space for the Coronation Big Lunch. Complete with picnic tables, benches and food stalls, everyone is invited to join in the Coronation Big Lunch.
The event will be taking place in cities, towns and villages across the nation and is the perfect opportunity for families and friends to come together to celebrate His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen Consort.
In the evening, the Coronation Concert will be live streamed in Piccadilly Gardens and residents are invited to enjoy the world-class entertainment and the historic event in the city centre with family and friends.
Starting on Monday 8th May, to mark His Majesty The King’s Coronation, thousands of organisations across the country will be participating in the Big Help Out. The Big Help Out is a scheme encouraging people across the country to volunteer and help out their local communities.

“From joining in with the events in Piccadilly Gardens, to celebrating at home, there’s a range of ways that communities all over the city can get involved with the celebrations and I hope that it will be a weekend to remember for all.”
