Pets can also visit the award-winning The Refuge Bar and Restaurant, the perfect place for you and your furry companion to escape the hustle and bustle of city centre Bonfire Night celebrations. Guests can enjoy a carefully curated drinks menu, hearty Sunday roast dinners, and a selection of small plates made with the freshest of ingredients over the Bonfire weekend.

The 139 cover Refuge bar and dining room is set in 10,000 square ft of breath-taking space divided into four areas:Dining Room, Public Bar, Winter Garden and The Den. It’s about a simple devotion to great food and drink, in one of the city’s grandest spaces – the former offices of the Refuge Assurance on Oxford Street, which was constructed in stages between 1891 and 1932. The building has been subject to a painstaking renovation, restoring a feast of original details in glorious terracotta, faience, marble and glazed brick. Modern design has been woven carefully into the space, creating the perfect atmosphere for exceptional all-day dining and drinking, meeting, relaxing, working, toasting… and perhaps a bit of dancing.

Johan continued: “At Kimpton Clocktower, delivering thoughtfully curated and artfully delivered guest experiences is what we love to do, and that’s why we’re so proud to offer our Bonfire Night Escape package as a sanctuary in the city for our guests and their pets.”

Kimpton Clocktower Hotel is a magnificent, terracotta Grade II listed building with a history dating back to 1890, when it first opened as The Refuge Assurance Company headquarters. The grand clock tower at the centre of its striking Victorian architecture is an unmistakable landmark on Manchester’s skyline. All 270 loft-style bedrooms, including 11 suites, were designed to make the most of the stunning, double and triple-height ceilings. Other original, period features including glazed bricks, tiles and faience, stained glass and carved wooden staircases, meet contemporary fittings and interiors, including a three-metre-tall bronze horse by artist Sophie Dickens which sits in the lobby. The piece denotes a horse-and-carriage ‘turning circle’ that once stood on the spot.

Guests at Kimpton Clocktower Hotel can request the Bonfire Night Escape package via the hotel concierge or by emailing manchesterreservations@ihg.com to book.
