A Stretford man who sexually abused a young girl has been jailed for over 10 years
Thomas Noone aged 33 was sentenced to 10-and-a-half years in prison after being found guilty of two counts of sexual assault by penetration against a minor and one count of sexual assault against an adult.
A brave victim of a child sex offender has helped get her rapist sent to prison after disclosing non-recent sexual abuse offences which happened when she was just 4-5- years of age.
Police began the investigation in 2020, when the victim’s grandfather contacted colleagues in Lancashire about non-recent sexual abuse which took place at an address in Greater Manchester in 2010.
Noone was previously convicted of a similar offence in 2016 when he was found guilty of a sexual assault of a female under 13 and received a three-year prison sentence, and was placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
Aother victim bravely came forward to disclose that she had also been sexually assaulted by Noone back in 2014 during the invesigation.
One of the two victims in this case had the confidence to come forward to police after she saw a press release that had been issued about Noone. The victim disclosed that Noone had sexually assaulted her when she was a very young age at an address in Greater Manchester.
When interviewed by detectives, Noone denied sexually assaulting both victims. During trial, Noone pleaded not guilty but was subsequently found guilty by a jury.
Detective Sergeant Louise Haslam said: “The acts Mr Noone committed here are nothing short of depraved. He preyed on young girls and exploited their vulnerability due to their age and never took responsibility for his actions, which highlights even more how courageous the victims were to come forward.
“What they have been through is something no-one should ever experience, and the fact they have remained so strong throughout this investigation and court process should be commended.
“As a force we are here to always listen to victims and give them a voice when they are ready. We have a committed team of detectives and staff who are focused on helping these young women so they can rebuild their lives.
“Noone will now spend more time behind bars and as a result the streets are a safer place without him.
“I would encourage anyone who has been a victim of sexual abuse to please contact us when you are ready, so that we can listen to you and make sure that you are protected at the earliest opportunity.”
