A man who committed a number of non-recent child sexual offences is jailed

Scott Stephenson aged 50 of Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire has been sentenced to 19 years at Manchester Crown Court last Friday  after being found guilty of five counts on non-recent sexual offences against a child in addition to a further two offences against a child when residing in Lancashire.

This was after being in a position of trust showcasing sickening sexual behaviour, sometimes with a reward given for following instructions. After years of not being able to or confident enough to report the behaviour that occurred at such a young age, the victim later came forward.

He will serve two thirds of his sentence as a minimum before being considered for any eligibility for release.

Detective Constable Gary Walden from GMP’s Rochdale Child Protection Investigation Unit said; “I would like to commend the bravery and courage of the victim in this case who was subjected to a terrifying ordeal at the hands of a person who didn’t care for them.

“We know the result will never erase the memory or experiences faced at such a young age, but the result hopefully starts the healing process and allows them to continue their life safe in the knowledge that Stephenson is behind bars where he cannot commit these offences again.”
