The rate of inflation in the U.K. has remained unchanged in August from the previous month’s 3.8 per cent

The office for National Statistics said that Air fares made the largest downward contribution to the monthly change while restaurants and hotels, and motor fuels made large, partially offsetting, upward contributions.

The average price of petrol rose by 0.3 pence per litre between July and August 2025, compared with a fall of 2.1 pence per litre between July and August 2024
