Recent research from Barclay’s reveals that over half (55%) of aspiring first-time buyers have admitted that they don’t fully understand the home-buying process or how to purchase their first property. With average house prices in Manchester peaking at £248,000, up 20% on the 2019 peak, it’s no surprise that homeownership feels like an impossible hurdle for this already struggling demographic.

Luckily, help is at hand for first-time buyers across Manchester and Greater Manchester, as National Home Buying Week: Live in Manchester returns in May.

The independent, advice-focused property show will be taking place at Manchester United Football Club on Sir Matt Busby Way on Saturday 14th May from 10 am to 4 pm and aims to help first-time buyers who are seeking professional advice on the entire homebuying process. A range of property, mortgage and legal experts at the Manchester show will be able to demonstrate how homeownership is still affordable in Manchester.

Lynda Clark, Director of National Home Buying Week, comments: “First-time buyers could be forgiven for not fully understanding the homebuying process. There is so much advice out there but much of it can be confusing and potentially overwhelming. Our National Home Buying Week: Live in Manchester event is designed to bring all the information together in one place and offer helpful guidance on the steps involved with home buying. We will have seminars, podcasts and a really helpful panel of experts who will be there on the day to offer free and helpful advice – to help people at whatever stage of the homebuying journey they are at.”

The upcoming event is expected to welcome eager first-time buyers through its doors. The free exhibition will highlight the best homes available across Manchester and the North West – including Government schemes such as shared ownership or Help to Buy.

Lynda adds: “Put simply, National Home Buying Week: Live in Manchester aims to clearly lay out the whole process of getting on the property ladder in a really easy-to-digest format.”

Hosted by First Time Buyer Magazine, alongside headline sponsor Plumlife, National Home Buying Week: Live in Manchester is the ultimate homebuying day out featuring a range of exhibitors; from private housebuilders to housing associations, as well as independent financial and legal advisors.

Headline sponsors Plumlife’s Head of Sales Suzy Hollins added: “We are delighted to be the headline sponsor for National Home Buying Week: Live in Manchester. Plumlife has an exciting range of new home developments across Greater Manchester and the North West and we’ll be showcasing these alongside our ambitious future plans.”

Suzy continues: “With the changes to the shared ownership scheme, making it even more accessible for first-time buyers, this is the perfect opportunity for our expert team to meet with customers, share information on our new homes and advise on the different buying options available to them.”
