The ‘heroic’ rail worker who tried to fight off a knifeman during the mass attack on a London-bound train on Saturday has been named as Samir Zitouni.

The 48-year-old’s actions on the Doncaster to London King’s Cross service on Saturday evening were described as “nothing short of heroic”.

LNER said Samir Zitouni, 48, “did not hesitate to protect those around him”

Known as Sam he has worked on the railways for over twenty years
