Heavy and persistent rainfall is causing travel problems and flood warnings across large parts of northern England.

A Flood warning has now been issued in Didsbury covering Fletcher Moss and Withington Golf Course and Sale Water Park, including Trafford Watersports centre and associated buildings, Deckers, Jacksons Boat public house and parts of Rifle Road

The Environmental Agency are warning that parts of Rochdale are under threat of serious flooding.

A flood warning has now also been issued for the River Roch at #Littleborough.There is a possibility of flooding from Stubley Mill Road to Carriage Drive

A flood alert has been issued for the Middle River Mersey catchment including areas near Bramall, Stockport, Sale, Altrincham and Urmston

The flood storage basin in Salford will also be operated later this evening to slow the flow of water and take pressure away from the river systems,the Environmental agency have announced.

All rail lines are blocked between Liverpool and ManchesterVictoria due to flooding

There is currently no estimation for the line to be reopened but it is expected to continue through into the night

The line between Rochdale and Todmorden is closed while the line between between Eccles and Earlestown is running a reduced service and trains are not calling at Hadfield due to flooding.
