The family of the man who died in a hit and run in Hazel Grove in the early hours of Saturday morning have paid tribute to him
22-year-old James Edwards was hit by a black Audi A5 on Bramhall Moor Lane and died in hospital.
Shortly after the collision and the driver, a 29-year-old man, and the passenger, and 27-year-old woman, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. The man was also arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of alcohol.
The man has since been bailed until Tuesday 23 May 2017 and the woman will face no further action.
James’ family paid tribute to him:
“James was the life and soul of the party who was liked by all he met. He loved his social life and had a good circle of friends and he would do anything for anybody.
“He was very athletic, playing football for a local team, Richmond Rovers and enjoyed going to the gym.
“He was a life-long fan of Manchester City holding a season ticket along with his father and Brother.
“He loved to travel and went to many parts of the world. This inspired him to join the Royal Navy which he had just been accepted into and was extremely excited at this new chapter in his life.
“James leaves behind his Father, Mother and Brother who ask that their privacy is respected at this time.”
Sergeant Paul Higgins, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is an absolute tragedy. I would like to extend my sincere condolences to James’ family and friends. I can’t imagine what they must be going through.
We are continuing our investigation and we are still appealing for anyone with any information or anyone who may have dash-cam footage to get in touch. What information you have may be vital in helping us get James’ family the answers they deserve.”
