Our Pass members are being urged to get active with a host of exclusives, including the chance to win a upcycled bike – as the number of cards issued since its launch hits 100,000.

Our Pass is a UK first. Now in its third year, it is aimed at Greater Manchester’s GCSE leavers, and care leavers aged 18-21. Applications opened in the summer, with Year 12’s able to start using their new Our Pass from the beginning of September.

Since first going live in 2019, Our Pass has been supported by homegrown brands like Park Life, NQ, the Halle, Co-op, JD, Vimto, OpenMoney, Manchester City and Manchester United through a series of offers and competitions. Members can currently take advantage of a range of exclusives enabling them to take part in fitness training, obstacle courses and go-karting; as well as taking advantage of competitions and discounted meal vouchers.

Over the next few months Our Pass will be announcing further exclusives for members to look forward to as we gradually come out of the pandemic.

And until November 11, Our Pass has an exciting new competition – in partnership with the Manchester Bike Kitchen – that gives members the chance to win one of four upcycled bikes. Winners will also receive a new helmet, lock, lights, and puncture kit.

The Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, said:
“We know that our young people have sacrificed a lot over the last couple of years. For our Year 12’s now starting something new, Our Pass is there for you. It’s one way in which we can help to make things better. It’s there to unlock the city-region, a pass to all 10 boroughs.
“When I first became Mayor, I said that Greater Manchester would use the freedoms we have under devolution to make young people our priority for investment. I’m proud to be able to say today that we’ve issued more than 100,000 Our Pass cards to young people.”

The Manchester Bike Kitchen is a not-for-profit organisation, based at Stretford Mall, in Trafford. They are a member of the Recycle for Greater Manchester (R4GM) Initiative. Every Sunday, from 11am-4pm, they offer free bike MOTs, minor repairs and safety lessons to Our Pass members. Paid for services are also available for the public.

John Dwan, from the Manchester Bike Kitchen, said:
“We are delighted to be working with Our Pass to enhance the commitment of young people in the city-region to live active and health lives. We hope everyone will get behind the recycle for Greater Manchester initiative to work towards a healthy and sustainable future.”

Now in its third year, more than 100,000 cards have been issued. Since its launch, in September 2019, members have made more than 18 million journeys. There are currently more than 43,000 active users. Eligibility was extended last year to offer care leavers the same advantages, up to the age of 21, with more than 500 cards issued so far.
