People across the region will be going to the polls this Thursday as they elect the region’s Mayor and local councillors across all ten Greater Manchester Borough’s with a third of councillor’s seats up for grabs

The focus will be on three local authorities where power could change hands

In Stockport, where no single party has a majority, there will be strong competition between Labour and the Liberal Democrats,

In Bolton Labour are now very close to regaining the majority they lost in 2019 while in Oldham, some believe that Labour may lose overall control of the council

Don’t expect any change in the other deven local authorities but there will be some contests to keep an eye on

In Rochdale,George Galloway’s Worker’s Party will be looking to build on their Westminster success as anti grooming campaigner Billy Howarth who stood against George Galloway in the recent Rochdale by election has joined his former foe and will be standing as a candidate in the ward of Balderstone and Kirkholt against current councillor Daniel Meredith the Rochdale cabinet’s portfolio holder for regeneration and housing.

In Manchester Deputy Council leader Luthfar Rahman is facing a challenge from Galloway’s Party which has also put up candidates in Burnage, Levenshulme,Rusholme and Whalley Range

Andy Burnham if you believe the polls is set for victory in the Mayoral election but eyes will be who finishes second with Reform,The Tories and the Independent Candidate Nick Buckley neck and neck

Results will be scattered over the next three days with some councils counting on Thursday Night,Friday morning, others declaring on Friday while the Mayoral race will be declared on Saturday and Salford Council will wait until Sunday for their count
