The UK has suspended free-trade talks with Israel and summoned the country’s ambassador over a ‘morally unjustifiable’ escalation of action in Gaza.

Around 14,000 babies could die in the next 48 hours if many more aid trucks do not reach Gaza, the U.N.’s humanitarian chief says.

The level of suffering in Gaza is “utterly intolerable”, PM Keir Starmer said in Parliament adding

“We are horrified by the escalation from Israel,” he said

David Lammy told the Commons

“It is not possible to advance these discussions with a government that is pursuing egregious policies in the West Bank and Gaza.” adding

We’re now entering entering a dark new phase in this conflict”,

Earlier the U.K., France, and Canada issued a joint statement condemning Israel’s restrictions on humanitarian access as “wholly inadequate.” The statement called for an end to the military campaign and warned of “further concrete actions” if Israel did not comply.
