Akbar Kafeel Khan aged 19 of Hyde Road in Gorton was charged last night with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article.
He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Manchester Magistrates Court today.
A woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been bailed while further enquiries are ongoing.
