Reports this morning are claiming that Gary Neville may be facing contempt of court proceedings following a tweet that he sent out during the trial of Ryan Giggs

Neville has been referred to the Attorney General for potential contempt of court over a social media post at 4am on the morning of the opening day of the trial of Ryan Giggs which wasbrought to the attention of the judge on the third morning of the trial, with proceedings scheduled to get under way just six hours later.

However a source close to Mr Neville told The Telegraph newspaper he refuted the allegation.

They said the post was in reaction to the owners of Manchester United – the Glazer family – and the fans’ demonstration in protest at the way the football club was being run.

Yesterday the judge in the trial dismissed the jury after they failed to agree on verdicts after 23 hours of deliberation

She discharged the jury and warned them not to discuss the case because there may be another trial next June.Giggs was granted bail until a hearing next Wednesday, when prosecutors are expected to disclose whether they intend to pursue another trial.
